We are extremely sad to announce that the founder and visionary of Real Deal Plus, Davey Falcus passed away earlier this year on 10th January following several years of ill health. Davey had a real passion for helping those in the local community who were struggling and along with wife Kath, set up the charity to help combat poverty and social isolation.

He will be very deeply missed by all who knew him but the legacy he has left with continue, led by the strong team of Trustees and staff he ensured were in place.

Real Deal Plus and Davey’s family would like to thank all who have sent kind messages, cards and flowers at this very difficult time.

We are providing food and hot drinks to some of the community’s most vulnerable people, especially those suffering from financial and fuel poverty. We supply furniture, clothing and food parcels to those desperately in need as well as packs of essential items, tents & sleeping bags, showering & laundry facilities & a day sleeping room for those who are homeless.

Our Community Cafe allows local members of the community a warm place of care and refuge, a listening ear, companionship and direct practical help. We currently receive referrals from a number of statutory and local services and community organisations including NHS, Crisis teams, mental health support workers, Northumbria Police and local housing offices. We provide volunteering opportunities to help provide experience and training to help those unemployed back into the workplace. Our various projects support those who would otherwise have nowhere to turn to for practical help and support.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to help at Ashington Life Centre. More details and application forms are on our Vacancies page

The vacancy is to cover Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays 9am - 4pm and duties will include making hot breakfast sandwiches e.g bacon, egg, sausage etc as well as a variety of toasties all to be available during the day till 3pm.

You will be required to have experience of catering, working to Environmental Health standards and hold a current Food Hygiene Certificate.

Ashington Life Centre provides vital help and support to some of the most vulnerable people in the surrounding area. We have huge numbers of people using our services every week and these numbers continue to increase week on week as more people become affected by the current cost of living and fuel crisis. Our facilities and services are being used by people of all ages - from school children to pensioners.
